The US launched airstrikes in eastern Syria. According to the country, the attack targeted infrastructure used by groups affiliated with Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the region.
Today, Wednesday (August 24), a statement from the US military’s Central Command said that the attack was carried out in the Deir al-Zor region of Syria on the orders of US President Joe Biden.
However, no comment was received from the Syrian government.
Col. Joe Buccino, a spokesman for the U.S. military’s Central Command, said the operation was necessary to protect and support U.S. personnel. However, the number of casualties in this attack was not mentioned.
The colonel also said that the operation was in response to the attack on the US forces on August 15.
