Corona is affecting millions of people in Bangladesh as well as all over the world. More than worrying about this, Health Minister Zahid Malek said that 2 million people in the country are currently suffering from cancer.
He said that besides cancer, millions of people are being infected with various non-communicable diseases including liver, kidney and heart and are dying every year. The causes of these diseases are our eating habits, excessive use of pesticides, environmental pollution and smoking is getting worse. We have to control these.
The health minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting at the National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital Auditorium in Mohakhali on Thursday. This discussion meeting was organized on the occasion of World Cancer Day.
Zahid Malek said that at one time people would die of cholera, diarrhea, typhoid and tuberculosis. Those diseases have also been controlled. The quality of our health care has improved a lot since then. As a result, we will be able to control the disease like cancer by providing health services.
