Nobel laureate. The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has written to the banks seeking information on Muhammad Yunus’ bank accounts. Banks have been instructed to send the information by Tuesday (January 25).
Last Thursday (January 20) said. BFIU sends letters to each bank asking for information on all types of bank transactions in Yunus’ name, even credit card transactions. If any bank has a record of any transaction of the former managing director (MD) of Grameen Bank, it is asked to send it to BFIU by Tuesday.
It is known that once before in 2016. Bangladesh Bank and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) take information about the bank accounts of Yunus and his family members.
Grameen Bank has been the MD of the bank since its inception in 1983. Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 jointly with Grameen Bank.
However, the government removed him from the post of MD in 2011 due to his retirement age. Yunus went to the high court challenging the government’s decision and lost.
