Two people, including a pickup van driver named Masud Rana, were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup van at Joypurhat. The incident took place in Shalban area of Joypurhat-Bogra road in Khetlal upazila on Saturday morning.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station Nirendranath Mandal confirmed the matter.
The deceased were identified as Masud Rana, son of late Nazimuddin Chowdhury of Balubagan village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila and Manoranjan, son of Bishwanath Hawlader of Daulavpur village under Gomstapur upazila.
OC Nirendranath Mandal said the slain pickup van driver Masud Rana was returning to Chapainawabganj with a fishmonger after selling fish at Mokamatla in Bogra. On the way, the driver of the pickup van collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound vehicle in Shalban area of Khetlal upazila, killing the driver on the spot. The OC further said that the fish trader Manoranjan in the pickup van was injured in the incident. Later, the locals rescued the injured Manoranjan and admitted him to Joypurhat Modern District Hospital. Later, his condition deteriorated and he died on the way to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
