Foreign Minister. A. K. Abdul Momen said that films can play an important role in the development of a generation and there are many films that have a lasting positive impact on both educational and personal life.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival at the National Museum auditorium in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
The Foreign Minister said the Dhaka International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in Bangladesh which continues to make a significant contribution to our positive film practice. Dr. Momen said the film festival will help young and talented filmmakers from home and abroad connect with the artistic genre of today’s world film.
Announcing the inclusion of the Foreign Service Academy Auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as one of the venues of the 20th Dhaka International Film Festival, the Foreign Minister said that several films of this year’s festival would be screened at the Foreign Service Academy Auditorium.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the main sponsor of the Dhaka International Film Festival. State Minister for Culture KM Khalid and Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy were present as special guests at the inaugural function presided over by Shahriar Alam.

Shahriar Alam said that just as the world’s film industry has gone through many ups and downs, the success of Bangladesh’s film industry has gone through failures. He said that our government is always committed to ensure the field of positive film practice in Bangladesh. He thanked the Rainbow Film Parliament and those involved in organizing the film festival for organizing the International Film Festival with the slogan “Aesthetic Film, Mindful Audience, Enlightened Society”.
Director of the festival Ahmed Mujtaba Jamal gave a welcome speech on the occasion.
