Funeral services were held for 29 bodies

Funeral services of 29 people killed in launch fire have been completed. The janaza was held on Saturday (December 25) at 11 am at Eidgah ground adjacent to Barguna Circuit House.

Of the 41 people killed in the incident, 37 were from Barguna. Relatives identified the bodies of 4 of these 37 people and took them away from Jhalakati. The remaining 33 bodies reached Barguna Sadar Hospital at 11:15 pm on Friday. Relatives identified the bodies of 4 people and took them away from the hospital. The rest of the bodies could not be identified.

The funeral of 29 unclaimed bodies has ended. Thousands of people were present at the funeral prayers. Also present were Barguna-1 MP Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman, District Awami League General Secretary Jahangir Kabir, Municipal Mayor Kamrul Ahsan Maharaj, and other senior officials of the administration.

At the end of Janaza, these 29 bodies are being taken for burial. The bodies will be buried in the government mass grave at Potkhali village in Sadar Upazila.

Incidentally, on 23rd December, at around 3 am, a terrible fire broke out in the Barguna-bound launch MV Avijan-10. 41 people were killed in this incident. Hundreds were injured. Many more are missing. Of the 41 people killed, 37 were residents of Barguna.
