Two boats sank off the coast of Libya, killing 164 people. The incident took place last week, but the UN immigration agency said on Tuesday.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) spokeswoman Safa Msehli said they had received news of a boat sinking in the Mediterranean on Friday. At least 102 people were killed. Eight people were rescued alive and brought ashore.
The second sinking occurred on Saturday. The Libyan Coast Guard recovered at least 72 bodies. On the same day they were able to seize a third boat. At least 210 refugees have been rescued from there.
