Ekushey Padak winning freedom fighter Golam Hasnayen passes away

Ekushey Padak winner and freedom fighter Advocate Golam Hasnayen has died of old age complications at his house in the Kachipara area of Pabna town this morning. He was 85.

He received Ekushey Padak in 2021 for his valiant role in the Liberation War, reports Pabna district correspondent.

Advocate Abdul Ahad, officer secretary of Pabna District Unit AL, said he was suffering from old age ailments for a long time. He passed away at his house today.

“Advocate Golam Hasnayen joined AL politics with Bangabandhu and gathered freedom fighters during the Liberation War. In the 1970 election, he was elected as a Member of Parliament from Ullapara constituency,” Advocate Abdul Ahad said.

After his Namaz-e-Zanaza was held at Pabna Technical School and College field with state honors this afternoon, he was buried in the Arifpur graveyard.

He was a former president of the Awami League in Pabna district and a five-time president of the Pabna Bar Association.

Advocate Golam Hasnayen was born in the Ullapara Upazila (now part of Sirajganj), and after completing his education, he joined Pabna Bar.

Golam Hasnayen was not active in professional or political activities in the last few years due to his health condition, but he was the senior lawyer of the Pabna Bar Association and the senior-most member of the Pabna Awami League. He was also a member of the 72-constituency committee.
