Himel Hamid, the missing student of Dhaka University, was found in Tangail District Jail today.
Himel, a student of DU’s Chemistry Department (2014-2015 Session), is the son of Billal Shikder of Jamalhatkura village under Sakhipur Upazila of Tangail.
He has been missing since Friday morning when he left for his village home from the DU hall where he stays.
Himel’s cousin Mahbub Shikder, lodged a general diary (GD) with Shahbagh Police Station on Saturday night.
Himel’s father, Billal Shikder, confirmed the development, saying that Himel was sentenced to one month in jail by a mobile court on Friday while giving proxy for one Rezwanul in the Food Department’s assistant inspector recruitment exam at Tangail Textile Institute Center.
When contacted, Ataul Rabbi, the judge of the mobile court, told that Himel was detained after his photo did not match that on the exam admit card and that he was also carrying an electronic device.
“After admitting the crime, he was sentenced on charges of violating government order,” he said.
Himel, however, did not identify himself as a DU student to the court, he added.
