Jihadi attacks in Nigeria kill 8 soldiers

IS militants linked to Nigeria’s northeastern conflict-torn state of Borno have killed six members of the country’s army and left several others missing. Military sources said.

Sources said a military convoy was hit by a rocket fired by Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) militants as it was passing between Dikba and Marti towns in the Lakeshad region.

A military official said eight other soldiers and an anti-jihadi militiaman were wounded in the attack.

Another military source, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the incident, said the jihadists had taken two military vehicles and set fire to three others.
