Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has held separate meetings with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Thaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Swedish Prime Minister Stephen Lofven to develop bilateral relations. The meetings were held at the UN headquarters on Tuesday (September 21). At the meeting, the Prime Minister of Kuwait proposed to draw up a roadmap on bilateral cooperation.
Foreign Minister in a press briefing in New York after the meeting at the UN headquarters. AK Abdul Momen said, “The Prime Minister of Kuwait has said that they want to jointly prepare a roadmap and a grievance program with Bangladesh in the next five years.”
Dr. Momen noted that the talks between the two prime ministers had been “extremely fruitful” and that he would meet with the Kuwaiti foreign minister to sort out areas of mutual interest and co-operation based on the talks between the two prime ministers.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam said Kuwait provided 50 million US dollars to Bangladesh through their Kuwait Fund and the Bangladesh government spent on developing municipal infrastructure under the Local Government Engineering Department.
It may be mentioned that the Prime Minister left Dhaka on September 17 to attend the UN General Assembly. Sheikh Hasina will address the general session in Bengal on September 24.
