SAARC foreign ministers’ meeting canceled

The meeting of the foreign ministers of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to be held in New York has been canceled.

It is learned that Pakistan wanted the Taliban to represent Afghanistan in the SAARC summit. Not only did the acting foreign minister of the Taliban come to the meeting, but Islamabad also demanded that no representative of Ashraf Ghani’s government be present at the SAARC meeting.

The meeting was scheduled to take place during the UN General Assembly in New York. Several other countries, including India, disagreed. As a result, the meeting was canceled. Nepal hosted the conference.
