Former Health Department driver Abdul Malek alias Badal has been sentenced to 30 years in prison under two sections of a case filed in connection with the recovery of arms and ammunition. Dhaka Additional Third Metropolitan Sessions Judge Rabiul Alam pronounced the verdict on Monday afternoon.
The court sentenced him to 15 years in one section of the Arms Act and 15 years in another section. The judge mentioned in the verdict that the sentence of the two sections will run together. Accused Malek was produced in court from jail on the same day. After the verdict was announced, the court ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier, on September 13, Dhaka Additional Third Metropolitan Sessions Judge Rabiul Alam had fixed September 20 for the verdict after presenting arguments of the state and the accused. The court gave its verdict on the testimony of all the 13 witnesses in the case.
