Tensions rise in Greece over anti-government protests

Greece is engulfed in anti-government protests and violence. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Saturday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

More than 22,000 people took to the streets in protest of the government’s recent restrictions on compulsory vaccinations. Protesters hurled grenades, cocktails and other explosives at police in different parts of the country. In response, security forces used tear gas and water cannons. As the situation heated up, the Prime Minister’s pre-arranged ceremony in the Thessaloniki area was canceled.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was scheduled to give an annual speech on the economic situation.
