A few days ago, her younger brother Shamim Eskander applied to the Home Ministry for the unconditional release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Because Khaleda Zia’s sentence is coming to an end on September 15. The law ministry has given the opinion of the application.
It is learned that the law ministry has given an opinion to extend the release period of Khaleda Zia by suspending her sentence for another six months.
The BNP chairperson went to jail on February 8, 2016 after being accused in a corruption case. Khaleda Zia was released for six months on March 25 last year by an executive order of the government.
