M. Abdur Rahim was a public leader and a skilled politician. As evidenced by His long political career, an unwavering commitment and determination to perform His duties. Demonstrations, frowning, opposition, agitation and unrest could never shake Him from His duties. Could not deviate from its own ideals and motives. As an honest, humble ideological politician, He was respected by all. He has given courage, inspiration and stimulus to the people of the country, especially in Dinajpur, from the leadership seat in the long political journey.
A close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, former MP from Dinajpur and Awami League leader M Abdur Rahim’s fifth death anniversary observed on Saturday.
On the occasion of the 5th death anniversary of the late public leader, the day-long program started at 9:30 am on Saturday at the district administration office premises by paying homage to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Then at 11 o’clock in the morning at the grave of the late public leader in Jalalpur village of Shankarpur union of Dinajpur Sadar upazila. Wreaths were presented on behalf of Abdur Rahim Social Welfare and Liberation War Research Center. Then the eldest son of the late Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and younger son Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad Iqbalur Rahim MP paid their respects.
Then Muktijoddha Sangsad, District Administration, Police Administration, Judiciary paid their respects. Prof. Dr. M. Kamruzzaman, Vice Chancellor of HSTU, Deputy Commissioner Khaled Mohammad Zaki, Superintendent of Police Md. Anwar Hossain, BPM, PPM (Bar), District and Sessions Judge Abdul Aziz Vndua, Director of M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital Dr. Khairul Kabir, College Principal Dr. Nadir Hossain, Vice Chairman Dr. Mominul Islam, Sadar Upazila Chairman Emdad Sarkar, Dinajpur Press Club President Swarup Bakshi Bachchu and General Secretary Subroto Majumder Dollar, Research Center Acting President Shafiqul Haque Chutu, General Secretary Chitta Ghosh, Leaders of Dinajpur Industries and Merchants Association, Leaders, leaders of district Awami League, city and Sadar Upazila Awami League, leaders of district sports organizations, political, social and various organizations and various chairmen of the union paid their respects.
Milad mahfil and prayers were held at the graveyard at 12 noon on Saturday. The prayers were conducted by the eldest son Justice M. Enayetur Rahim.
