Bangladesh has reported 114 more deaths from Covid-19 in the preceding 24 hours, bringing the death toll from the pandemic to 25,627. On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 14,77, 930 as 4,966 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.
It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.
Dhaka division alone saw 34 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while Chattogram division reported 29 deaths during the same time. Among the dead, 62 were male and 52 were female.
DGHS said 14.76 percent of the 33,640 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.
The recovery count rose to 13,89,571 after another 7,808 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning, 93.81 percent recovered, while 1.73 percent died.
Earlier, the highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 were reported on Tuesday (August 10). On August 5, the same number of people had died of the virus.
The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020, and the first deaths from the virus were reported on March 18.
