Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) today announced a 23-member squad to play in the upcoming Tri-Nation Football Tournament Kyrgyzstan in September. Two expatriate footballers have been called up ahead of the tournament.
Rahbar Khan, a Canadian expatriate, and Naib Tahmid Islam, a French expatriate, are the two rookies in the squad. BFF has asked both of them to join the national team in Kyrgyzstan directly.
Apart from Bangladesh and Kyrgyzstan, Palestine will play in the tri-nation tournament. Jamie Day’s team will also play a friendly match against Kyrgyzstan U-23 team.
English coach Jamie Day will decide whether to keep the two new expatriate footballers in the SAF Championship squad after watching the tri-nation tournament and friendly match. The biggest football tournament in South Asia will be held in Maldives in October.
Rahbab and Tahmid are the third and fourth expatriate footballers to be called up for the Bangladesh national team. Earlier, Jamal Bhuiyan, an expatriate from Denmark, made his debut in 2013 and Tariq Qazi, an expatriate from Finland, made his debut in a red-green jersey in June this year.
