Global death toll from coronavirus exceeds 44 lakh

More than 10,000 people have died from coronavirus (Covid-19) infections and nearly seven lakh people have tested positive for the virus in a day across the world.

As many as 10,433 people died from coronavirus infections worldwide in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of deaths in the virus to 44,05,221. On the other hand, the death toll in the virus was 10,013 in the previous day.

Besides, some 6,92,886 people tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) worldwide over the same period, raising the total number of infected cases to 21,00,91,803. But the number of daily coronavirus cases was 6,59,449 a day before.

Meanwhile, some 18,82,09,023 people have made recoveries from the virus infections across the world so far.

International survey organisation Worldometer disclosed the information on Thursday (August 19) morning.

The first coronavirus outbreak occurred in Wuhan, China, in December of 2019. It started spreading in different countries of the world since then.
