New Zealand in lockdown after detecting only COVID patient

A nationwide lockdown has been imposed in New Zealand after only one person was diagnosed with the coronavirus or Covid-19.
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern made the remarks in an announcement on Tuesday, reports Reuters.

The Reuters report says a person aged 58 was detected with the Covid-19 in Auckland. Health experts fear he was infected with the “Delta variant”.

As per the decision, the lockdown will continue for seven days in Auckland and three days across New Zealand.

It is to be noted that New Zealand has been COVID-free for the past six months. The virus was detected in a person’s body for the first time in six months.
