Govt Bangla College observed National Mourning day

Arifur Saadnan: National Mourning Day-2021 observed at Govt Bangla College on 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15 with due respect and solemnity maintaining the social distance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Principal Professor Dr. Ferdousi Khan started the mourning day at morning 07.30 AM by hoisting the flag and hoisted at half-mast and Vice-principal Prof. Md. Jahangir Hossain hoisted the black flag with national anthem. Masks distributed among all by the Principal and vice- principal to prevent corona epidemics.

Floral tributes and homage paid to the college Monument of Bangabandhu by the principal, vice-principal and program convener Prof. A.N.M. Shahadat Hossain. Heads of other departments, Teachers, BNCC-Rover Scout members, College BCL leaders and staff of the college were present there, Observed one minute’s silence in memory of all martyrs with Bangabandhu and Bangamata on this day in 1975.

A Prize giving ceremony held among the winners of the quiz competition on unfinished autobiography book of Bangabandhu, Hamd-Naat, composition, recitation organized on the occasion of Mourning Day.

After paying homage and distributing prizes, fishes were released at College Lake and planted trees at college premises by Principal, Vice-Principal and others.

After Zohar prayer, A Doa and milad mahfil held at college central mosque.

A virtual discussion and cultural program was held on this day at 8.00 pm on this day, chaired by Principal Prof. Dr. Ferdousi Khan. The chief guest was heroic freedom fighter, historian and Bangabandhu researcher Siraj Uddin Ahmed at Mourning Day Virtual Discussion. The discussion was conducted by Associate Professor Nahida Parveen.

Vice-Principal of college, Heads of the departments with other teachers, students, college student league leaders and staffs were attended the Virtual discussion and cultural program.
