Covid-19 recovery cases reach 62,000-mark in Ctg

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery cases reached 62,000-mark in the district where the infection rate continues decreasing again in the recent weeks.

“The number of cured patients from the lethal virus infection has reached 62, 199 in the district with the recovery of 532 more patients on Monday,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Civil surgeon of Chattogram, said, adding that the percentage of recovery rate now stands at 65.12.

Health officials said the number of Covid-19 cases speedily raised to 95,516 as 438 more people were reported positive after testing 2,550 samples with the daily infection rate of 19.46 percent on Monday in the district.

Besides, the Covid-19 death toll reached 1,239 in the district with 11 more fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Among the reported fatalities, 653 were the residents of the port city and the rest 486 were from different upazilas of the district, Dr Rabbi said.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus detection and death cases is decreasing day by day in Chattogram city and district.

The health experts of Chattogram urged city dwellers again and again to strictly follow the healthrules and use masks.

Among the newly detected patients, 279 are from Chattogram city and 159 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The civil surgeon told BSS that among the total infected people, 70,054 are the residents of the port city and the rest 25,462 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.

A total of 6,821 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals here, the health official mentioned.
