August 15 is National Mourning Day, a day of sorrow for the Bengali nation.The administration of Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU) has announced a month-long program on the occasion of the 46th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day. As a part of this, a drawing competition was held on 7th August with the participation of the children of the teachers, officers and employees of the university.
Meanwhile, an online quiz competition titled Contribution of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib to the Independence of Bangladesh was held on 8th August under the management of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall. According to administration sources, 86 students participated in the competition.
Meanwhile, on 2nd of August an article “Bangladesher Shadhinotay Bangabandhu Ghoshito Choy-Dofa” titled was called for. In that competition, 27 students submitted their essays till the stipulated time. Besides, about 228 students registered for the quiz. Besides, an online quiz competition on ‘The political role of Bangabandhu in creating the background of independence and liberation war, before the independence of Bangladesh’ was held on 10th August. A large number of students also participated in it.
On the other hand, on the first day of the month of mourning, the Honorable Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. M. Kamruzzaman launched a month-long black badge program. Teachers-officers-employees of all levels wear black badges from their respective positions.
On the first day of the month of mourning, digital black badges were displayed on the university website, banners were placed on important installations of the university as per official instructions, condolence messages were published on the university website by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor.
On the occasion of Mourning Day, webinar, digital photo exhibition titled Father of the Nation Bangabandhu, writing call titled Mahiyasi Nari Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib, blood donation program, essay competition and prize distribution have been taken up.
All programs will be observed in strict hygiene.
