Need to keep a close watch on illegal sand extraction: Shamim

Deputy Minister AKM Enamul Haque Shamim said the work that is going on now is the project to protect Rajbari Township. The project will conserve 7 km of river and 8.3 km of dredging at a cost of Tk 376.28 crore and 12 thousand.

In order to avoid any problem during the rainy season, all concerned should pay close attention.

The concerned department including district administration and police administration need to keep a close watch on the sand extracted from the river without any threat to protect the city or the people.

In a question to reporters, the minister said that if there is any irregularity in the ongoing project including stopping illegal extraction of sand from the river, departmental action will be taken.
