Bangladesh has reported 245 more deaths from Covid-19 in the preceding 24 hours, raising the death toll from the pandemic to 22,897. On the other hand, the total caseload stood at 13,65,158 as 11,463 more tested positive for the virus during the same time.
It was said in a press release signed by professor Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today.
Dhaka division alone saw 83 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours while Chattogram division reported 71 deaths during the same time.
DGHS said 24.28 percent of the 47,207 samples collected in 24 hours were tested positive.
The recovery count rose to 12,19,859 after another 14,412 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the same time.
Earlier, 241 deaths and 10,299 cases were reported yesterday. The highest single-day deaths 264 from Covid-19 and 12,744 cases were reported on Thursday (August 5).
The first Covid-19 cases were reported in Bangladesh on March 8, 2020 and first deaths from the virus on March 18.
