Bangladesh Awami League (AL) paid tributes to Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib by placing wreaths at her grave at Banani graveyard in the capital on her 91st birth anniversary.
At first, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader placed a wreath at the grave on Sunday morning on behalf of the prime minister. Later, he placed another wreath at the grave along with the party’s central leaders.
After paying homage, prayers were offered for the souls of all the martyrs of Bangabandhu family including Fazilatunnesa.
Awami League presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Abdur Razzak, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Shahjahan Khan, Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain, BM Mozammel Haque, Afzal Hossain, SM Kamal Hossain, Office Secretary Bilpab Barua, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan and other central leaders were present on the occasion.
Later, following the directives of the Awami League, the Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League unit paid homage to Bangamata maintaining social distance. After that, the leaders and activists of various allied organizations paid their homage and offered prayers.
